Look what the cat, erm, mailman dragged in: the new Dimmu Borgir cd. The "limited deluxe edition, including bonus track and bonus DVD". Yay! Except that I still don't have a DVD player (not counting my PS2) and "limited" implies that the amount of CD's printed should be mentioned somewhere. Comes with a (plastic) mirror so you can read the inverted lyrics in the booklet.

Hey I got the links right!

I'm not mean, I'm just (brutally) honest (and completely devoid of tact).

As to those recordings, I can't really make out which part is the original and which part is Gino playing along. So that means that either the recording is so bad that he fell off or that he can actually play along with the track indistinguishably (is that a word?) from it. I can't tell what part is Amon Amarth and what part is Gino, or in other words: very good.

I've heard some of his earlier stuff before, so there are some traits by which I can take a guess at where he is playing. It feels as if the guitar is pitched a little bit too high and there is a bit too much distortion going on (it almost gets a life of its own).

He should start a band or something.

Thanks dutchy he had his ipod plugged into his amp but turned the song down low so what you heard electric guitar wise was all Gino Bruno. =)

He was eager to hear your opinion but he'll have to wait until I get home. I keep telling him to start a band but he does not think he is good enough, I got him a class last year in school so he could learn how to read and write his own tunes but he got bored and said the class and the teacher was too slow. I think he's pretty amazing he only plays songs a few times over and over again and they plays them by ear! no tabs now. hehe

Dutchy I found some old recordings of Gino and was playing them for him to hear so he can hear how much he's improved and I told him "Can you imagine I let him listen to those!?" we were laughing and he told me to tell you he's sorry about that! hehe!

Amon Amarth is a bit of a discrepancy in my cd collection, as it is a bit softer than the usual black and doom I listen to. Similar bands (musically, not lyrically) I have albums of would be In Flames and Dark Tranquility. Later Immortal sounds like Amon Amarth too, but is much better.

A good way to find albums/bands that sound like one you already know if via Amazon. If you look up the album, you usually find a list of similar albums at the bottom of the page, like: [link]

Even though I tend to classify Amon Amarth as viking metal, it's really just death metal with a viking theme. There are two things I don't like about this genre: 1) vocals are a bit bland; 2) it lacks a distinct bass line. I'm more into doom these days (My Dying Bride and such).

And I think I can explain the disappearing posts. It has nothing to do with quotes, but rather with post timestamps. The thread list is generated by a single query, which basically says this: "give me all threads, sort them by last post and give me the poster of the last message for each thread". That last bit is a bit of a bitch to do in a single query without resorting to subselects. So I used a trick with timestamps, knowing quite well that there was a chance that it could fail. Turns out it occasionally does fail.

Abbath sounds very different here from in Immortal. In Immortal songs he would just more or less proclaim the lyrics, here he's actually trying to sing. Hmm...

On another note (off topic as usual) I took out this flick the other night called "Freedom Writers" cried and got teased by my kids through the whole movie. True story about this teacher trying to actually be a teacher over here in Ghettoland to make a long story short she "buys" her students this book called "Anne Frank The Diary of a Young Girl" since the school didn't want to waste books on the distructive students over here and well it was such a good flick "I" actually had to go buy this book! (hate books) I open the book up and guess what? The girl who wrote her Diary wrote it in Dutch! The book of course was translated into English but they show actual clippings of the original Diary written in Dutch which has a bunch of Dit, een and Ik and her cat's name was Moortje hehe!

(anyways, now I'm crying in this book it's so good but sad dutchy)

True story of events in World War II, viewed through the eyes of a adolescent girl. Depressing stuff. I've never felt inclined to read it. There's too much focus on WWII over here anyway. It's the national trauma.

I don't think anyone routinely listening to Ms Stefani will understand the awesomeness of Satori Part I. Then again, it may have something to do with my sensitivity to "demons in forests" tunes. It is very much in that vein. It starts out like some kind of occult incantation or something, taking place deep in some dark, dense forest.

Gwen Stefani makes chick tunes, so no wonder I can't stand that. She was better when still in No Doubt.

The following is mediocre at best (no bass, too much treble), except for the bridge in the middle which has howling wolves.

Suddenly my bank got fast. The shop already received the payment and has packaged the lot, so it should probably be mailed today, meaning that I should receive it tomorrow.

Anyway, I always buy cd's instead of downloading things. It's both about quality (mp3's stink) and "support the bands" (I listen to obscure stuff on small labels).

Umm I'm not so sure about the quality anymore when purchased (I used to think that way too) however do you remember when I bought my (2) Bathory CD's? both came to me w/ the songs in the wrong order all mixed up as if they had been home made CD's rather than factory CD's. At any rate I only d/l to check out and be certain before I buy especially when it's tunes like Summoning of which I've never heard of before. (I might buy that one CD the other songs from Summoning were not as good)

Dutchy before this day is over I will have ordered the "Let Mortal Heroes Sing Your Fame" CD cuz I normally only have (1) fav that I choose as the best off of any CD but on this one I cannot choose between "Runes of Power" and "Ashen Cold" they both sound so epic! I have to own this CD...

/me just got a message from the store that the cd's I ordered have been sent. I should receive them tomorrow, including that particular Summoning album.

It's rather odd. Another of their albums, Stronghold, has been in my collection for years, but it really wasn't all that special. Rather annoying even.

I ordered it from CD Universe prob ship to me in two days...

Not sure you will like this one dutchy from the others as it does not have that fast drum/bass and the heavy growling stuff you seem to like but it has rather more of an erie type atmosphere of castle enchantment, gritty guitar and a heroism feel to it.

I swear you can almost smell a musty dungeon, it's that good...

Had an exam this evening. So I took food to work and put it in the fridge. Finished work, walked to the station (school is in a diferent city), stepped into the train and looked in my bag. Hmm, where's my food?

The answer is ofcourse, still in the fridge at work, @#$%!! So I had to do that exam on an empty stomach. After the exam I took the train back, walked to work to pick up my bike and the food from the fridge. Turns out that suddenly my key stopped working, so I couldn't get in. Or in other words, my food is still in the fridge at work.

Luckily there were four cd's waiting for me when I got home.

Hmm, there are some seriously sucky samples on this album. It would've been much better if they'd let those out. First two songs haven't been too interesting.

Runes of Power - Excellente! (I told you this one from the sample I had already I love)

Ashen Cold - Excellente! (Ditto here)

Farewell - Semi-Excellente but maybe the masculine feel on this one goes overboard for me.

If you like this album you should check some tracks of their "Stronghold" album. There are quite some similarities.

I get a bit bored by the vocals and certain repeating keyboard tricks though. Not too mention the bloody samples. Track three though, is awesome.

Track four (Our Foes Shall Fall) is now neck and neck w/ Runes of Power and has nudged Ashen cold down a notch...

I'll check out Stronghold via Limewire I need to stop buying so much stuff and devote one year straight to paying off my bills now so that I can get serious on buying a house someday too "hopefully" (I'm totally distructive but it's time I stop)

Curious enough, buying is technically cheaper than renting over here. I pay less mortgage than I would have to pay rent. There are downsides ofcourse, you are less mobile as it is a long term investment, and you have to cough up (the money for) all repairs yourself, but the upside (at least over here) is that owning a house is tax-deductable and it is essentially capital you own.

Anyway, hiring never was an option for me. There is so much demand that there is a general waiting list that literally takes years. People who have been on the list longest get first picks. Stupid system.

My step father gifted me his house when he married my mom, but it never felt like my house cuz everyone else in my family came to live w/ me as if my house was the Holiday Inn! And when it got run down "I" had to keep paying for all the repairs cuz of course it was "my" house right? So I sold it to run away (practically gave it away) which was the biggest mistake of my life cuz 2 yrs after I sold it the market went through the roof and I could have walked away w/ 150 thousand dollars profit instead of only 20 (which I spent on a car cash cuz I needed good transportation) *stupid* I should have saved the money. =(

Now I'm not so certain I will ever be able to buy a house cuz renting is so hard I can't seem to save anything. I currently pay 1400 a mo for this Condo I'm renting (though my manager could easily rent this condo for 2000 a mo and he does not lock me into a lease so I'm happy about that) but oh well I still dream...

No I got excited yesterday (was on my yearly skinning high) cuz I figured out how to skin the actually "weather icons" not just the background images silly it's not even close the same ss's I showed you before! men!!!

The only thing is you can't change the layout or animate the rain yet etc. But I'm sure someone will hack that part soon enough on the iphone so that can be done as well...

I only skin what I use these days. My LiteStep setup is about eight years in the making, does what I want (as far as LiteStep can do it) and has rendered the machine completely inoperable to others.

It's great fun to see people struggle with my esoteric interface. Not having a mouse helps tremendously too.

Quick question cuz I'm not in the mood to try to lug this box to a tech today, what would cause the maching to periodically make a high pitch cycle sound and then cause your typing to suddenly stop appearing on the screen for a few seconds and then suddenly appear all at once? I type a few letters and then it freezes and then suddenly the rest of the word appears after a delay? Do you think it to be my cordless keyboard? or some hardware issue? argh! I'm sick of this stuff! (I just got this machine not too long ago)

Nevermind I think it might be a faulty surge protector (I'll know for sures before this day is over)

I suspect CPU spikes while typing, meaning that the machine is busy with other things at that time and postpones displaying what you've entered. It's always a big mystery to me what is causing the spike, but I usually blame Windows and its attempts to swap memory at that time.

It was a faulty surge protector when I checked things out I heard sparks when I moved some plugs (bought a new one)

Sony, on an ongoing quest to create bad ass hardware supported by lame ass software, forced me to look for An Alternative. Out of the dark pages of a black google I found ml_sony.dll on sourceforge dot com. Combined with winamp and a shiny new skin this now lets me listen to reli rock 24hrs a day / six days a week (if I'd wanted to).

I've skinned, and it felt damn good :)

As for the iphone the first time I skinned it to put one simple theme of a background image and change the icons it took me a week of reading and hacking but now you can not only change the background image and icons but totally re-order the icon locations as well and "on the fly" in two seconds flat (once of course you've created the theme and uploaded it to a special directory on the iphone)

Right now everyone locked themselves out of their iphones w/ the new firmware upgrade that was recently released (I won't touch it cuz me likes to skin a bit too much) and my phone works perfectly...

I knew it (Orange) was a shitty company because I've been a customer with them under their previous names (Casema/Wanadoo). But they were so dirt cheap I signed up.

The catch is, it's a year contract, so I'm stuck with them for the next twelve months. Perhaps I can void the contract by stating that they didn't deliver on their part of the deal. But perhaps I should just be patient and maybe it will resolve.

Then again, I signed up September 18th and still nothing.

That's a bit rediculous (even if it were free) by the time they give you service your contract will be over!

I would call them and tell them if service is not on in 3 more days you will be going down there to their office to feed them their dogfood contract.

Course since I'm female we just get to bat our eyes and get service going quickly. =)

I just browsed through their agreement thingie and it says:

"(4.1) De termijn van de Overeenkomst gaat in op de datum waarop de Toegangscode door Orange aan de Klant ter beschikking is gesteld en de Diensten zijn opgeleverd."

...which translates as: "the term of the agreement will commence when the access code is given to the customer by Orange and the services have been provided". The primary service I am looking for has not been provided, so therefore the contract hasn't started just yet.

If I were you I would find out what the delay is maybe they assume you have service? and there is some kind of mix up? They can't possibly think any customer would be happy about a rediculous service start up like you are off to. I mean if it takes them this long to give you service shouldn't you be alittle worried about what kind of service you will have once you get it! (that's if they ever get you going) hehe!

One thing about being out on your own is you will need to get used to calling up service companies and sitting on hold for the rest of your life just be sure to buy a wireless phone that has a speaker phone feature so you can clean your whole house while waiting on the phone for them at the same time!

Already called them numerous times and they claim they have trouble with "third parties", which turns out to be the dude who has to plug the ADSL-cable onto my line in the phone center, or rather, lack of dudes to do that.

I have zero confidence in these goons at the moment, but I'll give them some time still.

There are two types of Dutch TV really, first are the so called "public" channels. These get filled by broadcasting corporations that get government funding. So these public corporations don't own the channels (except the digital ones), but share them with other corporations. They broadcast on three (analogue) tv channels, a number of radio stations and an unknown number of internet/digital channels. They're government funded, but not government owned and the government does not have any say over what programs should or shouldn't be broadcast.

Second are the commercial channels/broadcasting corps, who own their own channels and don't have to share. But they are dependent on advertising revenues, so they tend to be somewhat more carefull.

The streaking girl on the front page, for instance, is a satirical response to a recent incident where employees of the government department she was standing in front of turned out to have access codes to the content management system of a press agency and had been illegally accessing and altering unpublished press releases. The message of that movie was along the lines of "you like peeking, then peek at this/something legally".

Prostitution was legalised a couple of years ago, because the government figured: "hmm, this thing exists, so let's not pretend it will go away and hey, if we make it legal, we can tax it too!". Opportunistic lot.

I've seen the iTouch (basically a stripped down iPhone without phone capabilities) in action, both normal and hacked, and it is just a mini-Mac. All kinds of programs available for it.

Everything else feels fine I'm quiting on this I'll have to not sync the phone to the computer and let the stupid clock issue rest. I'll just have to keep manually resetting the clock when it lags too far behind that is... *sigh* (I must have picked a complete lemon)

These nuts were telling me to do all the "common sense" stuff which I've done before I even began calling about this issue in the first place, such as set the clock to not sync w/ internet, set the clock tooooo sync w/ internet, change internet syncing spots, change the clock itself then restart the computer, check the time zone, bla bla bla (totally rediculous common sense stuff) I don't think they hear a word I say...

Anyways I'm giving one more call today to see if I can get that guy that tried to contact me on Friday (yesterday he called off so they gave me drones as you call them) hehe

Throughout the day I keep noticing it lagging 6, 20, 45 to a couple of hours at a time as if it gets stuck and loses track of time while I'm on it until I manually fix it and bring it current again.

Assuming you had your drives and motherboard replaced, did a clean install, have the machine running all the time (so the long term effect can be observed) and do not sync (to eliminate that as a possibility), then if the clock is being erratic, I'd say the little chip on the motherboard that generates the clock pulses is damaged. Or perhaps the BIOS is wonky.

Yes the guy replace the Hard Drive and of course had to do a clean install after that and yes the Motherboard was replaced w/ a new one and I seen him going into the BIOS and messing around in there but anyways Dutchyyyyy!!!!!

They're send me a new machine! And it has upgrades! (since the thing has been upgraded all over apparently) They said I should have it before X-mas!

What a relief and they actually did have me in tears I just could not believe it, it's as if they don't hear me or something.

I actually was nervous to say yes to the new machine cuz the guy already fixed the hard drive and motherboard and the computer finally feels right but they can't figure out the clock issue and I almost let it go but I remembered what you said that if it was a surge that created this mess in the first place things may keep going wrong no matter what so I decided to forget them trying to come again to try to troubleshoot the clock. My god, I liked their first album, but this mini-cd teaser thing of their upcoming album reminds me so much of late Bathory, it's uncanny. It's less heavy (less bass, people who can actually sing), but the overal vibe is very similar.

In other news, when I ordered cable tv (cable tv over here is different from on your end, namely: a) a few dozen channels instead of six trizilion; and b) everyone has it) for my house I got the offer for digital tv for free. I'm Dutch and Dutch can't say no to free stuff, so I now have digital tv.

They offer a (free) standard package, consisting of the same channels you get with your regular cable account (plus a bunch of utter crap regional channels) and a number of additional channels for which you have to pay a fee. I'm not going to do that ofcourse, but the first two weeks, you get access to all packages (a hundred or so channels) as an incentive.

So the past and coming week, I have that 101 channel and at least seven music channels, one of which plays electronic music 24/7 without commercials or breaks. Guess what my tv has been tuned to lately (not that I have time to watch).

Trouble is, their playlist is somewhat limited. If I hear Bob Sinclar one more time, I'm going to murder someone...

I have to give a verbal report (yuck, shit is sucking up all my time) on monday and have an exam on wednesday (which I failed two times before and for which I have yet to start studying), but after that I have two weeks off and can finally fix this board.

Don't worry about it I'll try to stop bugging you so much you better take care of that report and those exams.

I'm just reinstalling things bookmarks etc. I took the modem out of the defective machine and installed it into this one (stupid screws are insanely small!) but that's as far as I'll go I don't do motherboards or hard drives and hate the letters "BIOS" (looks freaky)

Installing a hard drive is easier than PCI cards, really.

Anyway, exam and speech done. Finally got some time off again. Except from work, daily chores, two reports I still need to write, more exams, etcetera. Fortunately, I've got the next two weeks off and those exams and reports are in half and late January.

One thing about a house is you will surely become a jack of all trades. When I had my house I had to learn all kinds of things in order not to have to pay to fix everything that broke down all the time (which they usually want you to pay w/ your soul to fix)

Just don't do what I did I fixed everything and then out of frustration I sold it so the new owners got a beautiful house when all I had was a broken down one.

Actually I know that is not very comforting hearing that when it will begin to feel as if every stupid dollar you make is being fed into fixing your house but when my Stepfather gifted me his house it was worth 120.000 when I got done w/ fixing everything in it and selling it I heard the value was worth over 300.000 =(

I did not know about things such as that so someone ripped me off that was wiser than me. All I knew at the time is I was tired of fixing things and tired of my family bugging me constantly to move in and out w/o helping me at all. (obviously by now you know how stupid I can be)

Wasn't that the flick where they used real actors but digitally rerendered them? I've seen an older Beowolf film with my hero Christopher Lambert, but that, like all his movies, was dreadful.

Yes that's the one it's relly kind of unusual and unique the way they did the animation one min you think for a split second you are watching a real actor then the next you realize it's an animated character. They just released it over here the other day.

And about the whistling thing I thought you were being sarcastic what I meant was don't complain about fixing your house just whistle while you work and it will pay off cuz in the end you'll have something worth while even if it don't feel like it now.

I just spotted on that link of movies that guy made Beowulf so I guess that guy made an earlier version of it? (though I've never seen Beowulf until the other day) But you should check out this newer version it was pretty good. (atleast something totally unique to anything I've ever seen as far as the animation is concerned)

Be grateful, Christopher Lambert has the charisma and acting skills of a brick wall. Alright, I'm probably being unfair, but I've never seen him doing any decent acting in any of his movies.

And regarding the house bit, I'm just shocked that things break down so much. And now I'm getting all kinds of municipal tax bills and shit. Bloody thieves they all are!

I know dutchy, be careful cuz it gets veryyyy frustrating. I felt like all I did was work and then use every single penny to fix the house and then when I would get done fixing and got a small break from that thennnn the stupid house tax bills came in to hit me! plus everyone thought cuz Doreen had a house let's use her garage as storage, lets move in w/ her for free and kick back for a while, lets have "ALL" the Holiday festivities at her pad she's got room!

They wore me down completely and I felt like it was not my house and all I did was work, fix and pay so I ran away from it (But I should have stayed the corse) Now I see it helped my sister and my brother out and it kept my whole family together. (one of my biggest mistakes)

But just keep investing in your house it's worth it...

Plus of course down the line when the day comes and I kick the bucket I have no house to give to my two little boys. (So stupid)

hehe noooo silly it's the stupid leases over here in Cali you sign a lease when you rent so that the rent stays at the same for one year at the end of the lease/year they(the landlord) has the right to raise the rent according to the property value at that time etc. so sometimes your looking at 100 dollar increase in your monthly rent (so I normally move)

However this Condo I'm currently renting (the one I showed you pics of) the landlord said he promised me he would never raise my rent as long as I stay (If that is true I will be here a longgg time cuz I like it here I like my room upstairs something about the cross air breeze that is perfect)

There is a bit of a family aggregation here, yeah. Sister lives around the corner, parents on the other side of the graveyard and my aunt lives in this neighbourhood as well. Couple of other relatives a bit further away (fifteen minute bike ride).

That's what mine do to me. This is about the furthest I've moved from my family and I'm currently only 15 mins away (drive time) from my sister and my Mom and Stepfather cept my crazy brother who moved to Nevada to finally buy his own house where they are cheaper (so he's a about 3 hours away now)

His wife let him out of his cage last week and he came to surprise me again and we had our WOW marathon but he told me he is going to sell his house "yes already" and move back here cuz he can't stand being away from us all. My Mom is like not sure she is too happy about that news. hehe!!!

Seems like there will be more World of Warcraft marathons coming up.

What can I say? Some people have issues. I my mother's case she just refuses to learn how to do things, even trivial stuff like transfering photos from a digital camera. And since it's cap on our Moms time, don't forget to set her email client to "Auto Delete" so when she exits her mail it deletes the junk for her cuz if she is like my Mom and you don't she'll have like 50 million mails in her delete folder from her sister that have tons of links to rediculous flash joke sites from months and months accumulated...

Oh no, she seems to have that under control. She deletes them herself.

Wellll my Mom deletes them but then they "all" sit in her Deleted box for ages piling up until her box explodes...

I would prefer a dog, but dogs need company. And since I work all day, (s)he would have to be alone half the day. So that's not ideal.

Dutchy I had to get rid of my bunny =( you cannot imagine how much work a bunny is. (they pee like a horse and smell worse than one) my manager and his wife also "had" a bunny so when I moved over here I thought this was ideal (cuz he said I could have as many pets as I want) but they were trying to pawn their bunny off on me too! hehe

Anyways he told me about this farm he was checking into as a home for their bunny and I went down there and checked things out and it was the perfect place for him he had hay all over and the run of the place and could be free instead of in a cage cooking all day in this heat we have over here in Cali

Thennnn of course I told you I had a bird and during a heat wave I put the fan on and when I was moving things around in the kitchen and cleaning she came to fly to me and got startled by the fan and flew into it and died I cried like a baby and my boys were upset at me soooo nowwww I have this totally loud and demanding Parrot OMG dutchy he's so weird but I'm attached to him now. He's bigger than the other bird I had so he's louder messier but worth the work and clean up...

I'm highly allergic to rabbits. Not so much the animals themselves, but the straw in their cages. I can't enter a stable either, because the atmosphere nearly knocks me out.

Anyway, dogs are actually easier to maintain than cats. With cats you have to clean their litter box, while dogs do things outside. I should theoretically clean that up as well, but that's ridiculous and I've never bothered with it, even when I had a dog.

hehe that's nasty! yeah even though I'm allowed to have a puppy over here I think I showed you a pic of that small patch of grass and tree we have by the pool? that is where I'd have to take him out and no way I'm picking that stuff up! gross atleast w/ my parrot though he makes a mess throwing his fruit and seeds all over the place and screaming at me all the time his poop don't smell! hehe

What surprises me is that the cat hair does not mess w/ your asthma my kids are allergic to cut grass and cat hairs so I can't even take them over to my Mom's house cuz she has two cats and everytime I try to take them over to her house they have troubles w/ their asthma that night w/o fail.

Someday though I want to get a German Sheppard (don't ask me why I don't even know but I want one from a small puppy)

I'm allergic to hair in general and I've got plenty of that myself, so them cats and dogs ain't got nothing on me. Fortunately there's this thing called "medication" to suppress things.

One being called "Singulair" in particular and two others QVAR and ProAir (I should have been nurse not a Data Analyst.

Doctors over here don't prescribe brands anymore, but rather the medicine itself. It's then up to the drug store to decide what brand you get.

Really? That might not be to your benefit cuz the Generic versions don't seem to work the same (some do but "most" don't) and the drug store should not have the right to choose whether you get the real version of the medicine vs a synthetic clone.

I pay a $10 co-payment for visits and meds that's about it and last year it was $5 and I thought that was alot! untilll Sammy recently had a pretty bad asthma attack from his allergies and we ended up at the hospital the Doc prescribed a full strength med that was non generic (vs the generic brand he was using at another time) It cost $308 dollars and was non covered by my work insurance I almost fainted and told the pharmacy no way I have right now so he called the Doctor and he made some kind of exception I have no idea how that even happened cept I Thanked God of course and I only had to pay $20 and Sammy's been fine since he's been on "this non generic version"

Oh, I pay a lot more for my stuff. Fortunately, insurance covers it fully and unfortunately, thanks to the morons in charge in this country, we now have a no-claim system, meaning that I loose out on a couple of hundred bucks each year.

Well that's good that you seem to be able to count on things over there cuz things over here keep changing w/ the wind each year my work insurance seems to pick and choose what it will and will not cover depending on their mood and I guess I should expect my co-payment to keep rising each year as well (when in the recent past I never paid a penny for anything) cuz my work insurance paid 100% for everything and there was no such thing as Generic everything through my insurance was name brand (It's changed over the past 4 years now pretty drastically)

Dutchy this stupid fan is "stuck" on this machine over here do you know of a way to shut it off (sounds like it's going to blow up)

I mean other than having to have the guys come open up the box is there a setting to calm it down? I've not even begun opening up enough apps for it to be acting like this.

There is no software solution, the only option is to open the case and investigate. Maybe something is overheating or perhaps it's just dusty and in need of cleaning.

This is not something I need to worry about is it? If this stupid fan just blows up will I have time to get someone to fix things after the fact? The sound is pretty unbearable and hard to work on it sounds scary! But I don't have the time to worry about it cuz I've got deadlines today.

The problem is this particular machine is not County property though it resides here in this Hospital so I'm not sure which guys to hunt down "this time" (So hopefully I have time and this thing don't drop dead or something)

Modern machines will shut down automatically if they overheat. But I'd still say you should get the sysop to investigate. He or she will probably have a fit, but what the hell.

I got a hold of some guys from the outside IT Dept that should be responsible to handle that particular machine (when they can get down to Los Angeles is the issue) since they're not stationed in the hospital where I work. anyways dutchy I'm so tired of machines breaking down, not too long ago I had my own computer issues on the machine I work on from home and now I've got this stupid thing to deal w/ over there! the nurses over there say they hear the thing going nuts everytime I make my connections and then it calms down when I log back off and disconnect. When I get there and sit down and touch the mouse before I even launch the programs it sound like it's going to blow up so I'm guessing the fan is defective or something it drove me nuts all day yesterday and my concern is when it blows out the machine will burn out shortly after that.

If you're right and the machine shuts down before overheating that is good but that will not solve my concern about my job since I need "that" machine to connect to from this machine to work.

Stupid machines what I need is a new line of work...

Stupid Doctors over here dutchy, I took your lil cyber nephew (Sammy) to the Doctors over a week ago cuz he's so sensitive that every little thing seems to trigger his asthma but something sounded wrong so I took him to the Doctors and the Doctor listened w/ his scope said yup asthma flair up and tossed me some liquid Steroids for a 5 day course (which is not good meds for a kid when it's over and over again)

He finished the Steroids and I had to take him back cuz to me his cough sounded weird I kept telling the Doctor his cough sounds different to me? The Doctor said no it's just his asthma, so I demanded they check him better and they ran an X-ray sure enough he's had Pneumonia! what was strange is he had no fever. But his cough to me sounded different even these crazy Doctors could not tell by listening to him. I'd like to shoot them!

Anways just take down the msg board if you want cuz I'll just come bore you death forever otherwise. Keep the Tek news up though but really the msg board is nothing you should drop it, all it is is me looking for you all the time...

I'd say pneumonia is quite risky when you have sensitive/weak longs already. But I'm no doctor.

No that is exactly right, his lower right lung was and is full of fluid so thats what was causing him not to breath right when I took him the first time to get checked but these Doctors over here are Steroid crazy they don't diagnose what is causing the asthma they just hear a wheeze and toss steroids everytime he should have been on antibiotics a long time ago when I told them he sounded different the last time. (pneumonia in severe asthmatics could be fatal)

It seems those doctors where a bit too laid back and too quick to diagnose things. Asthma doesn't just flare up just like that, they should always look for a reason.

Anyways dutchy he goes back Tuesday for another Chest X-ray they said if he did not respond to all the meds they gave him they're going to admit him into the hospital but "I know" he is doing "much" better, (he took a turn last night I can tell) they gave him several injections of Antibiotics and Steroids and oral meds and I've been giving him around the clock breathing treatments on a machine I have here at home.

Gino thank God seems to be outgrowing his asthma but Sammy is the one having a hard time now.

Somewhere between about 1990 and 2000 I spent a lot of time listening to pirate radio stations, because they played music you didn't hear elsewhere. Around the end of the decade all pirate stations in this area were shutdown once and for all.

Now there was this one song I really liked, but I never knew the name, nor the artist. The only thing I knew was that it was released on the label Mokum Records. So right now I'm scouring YouTube for tracks on that label.

Certainly issss... (and a good change from the norm) Why did they shut them down? I need to go hunting over the weekend for something different cuz it's rerun city over on this end same ole same ole on the radio and vid channels.

Anyways it's pretty hard not to be able to find anything on YouTube that your hunting for so hopefully you found it.

They shut them down because you have to pay to use a frequency and pirates don't do that. The official reason ofcourse was that they caused interference/disturbances with other (legal) stations. Trouble is, those legal stations are all bloody boring.

Seems they are trying to butt into all the good stuff on the internet that we used to enjoy for free, some nut I seen on TV was trying to pass something about putting a tax fee for itune music d/l's now? And was looking for clarificaton on what is considered a "tangible item" I think that was the word? (and not sure of the spelling of it) needless to say they said he is now needing a body guard cuz of death threats. hehe!

He just got his lvl 70 mount (which makes mines look pitiful now) plus his has speeds of 120% faster of normal speed. He's a Holy Paladin.

How can a horse that massive be so fast, o Elven Ones? Never played World of WarCraft (and not going to either, I'm short on time already), but I've seen horses in several games and they work quite well. In Zelda 64 the area to run around in was quite limited, but the horse riding in Shadow of the Colossus was really epic. Conan soundtrack running in my head and all.

Anyway, every time I see World of WarCraft, I'm reminded of that Southpark episode.

By the way, does being a "Holy Paladin" (aren't paladins more or less holy already? [link] ) require you to be the good guy? That's the deal in Dungeons and Dragons. Never playes that game either, but I read the character building book.

Not sure of the terminology of it but I'm reading your wiki link now but in the game there are diff "specs" and he chose to be a "Healer" (which is Holy) the other two are "Protection and Retribution" I think? Just like for my char I chose Demonology rather than Afliction or Destruction cuz I can play that char better when I tried Afliction (like everyone was pushing me to I died every second) but playing Demonology I have several minions/pets to tank w/ me. So I seem to do twice the damage w/ my spells.

Gino kicks butt as a Healer though he tried the other specs too. We get into groups and go hit dungeons and do instances and no matter what lvl madness is down there he keeps us all alive. His guild begs him around the clock to go do raids but he prefers when we go hit dungeons. hehe! (lots of fun)

Btw Gino said tell that crae guy to play WOW but I already told him there was no way you would cuz you are too cheap and lazy and you play micky mouse games. hehe!

Demonology means summoning monsters to fight for you, right? Healers are useful in most games, but unfortunately they tend to be somewhat weak.

I can't remember what episode it was, but there's a Southpark episode where they go play World of WarCraft (and get totally addicted).

Yes the char I chose gets to summon all kinds of diff minions that fight along side me while you get to cast damage over time spells. Alot of fun but a very difficult char to play (not a popular one since warlocks are the weakest)

And yes Gino's char is most useful but not as weak as the warlocks cuz he has spells of protection so he bubbles himself when attacked and takes down aliance and monsters etc. (Cool char I like when he plays he has alot of skill)

I think it's all about how the "individual" plays his/her character that's about it...

Anyways it's very addicting as I told you my brother got us into this he's "completely obsessed" w/ it, I go through periods where I enjoy playing it "alot" and then times where I don't have time and need to break off from it for weeks or even months so he gets pissed off at me. But it's fun.

The Southpark clips me and Gino checked out yesterday where totally hilarious dutchy! (not sure if they were any of the ones you were talking about) funny after I seen them I thought how disgusting! Some were just completely gross and grossed me out. hehe

Dutchy I "think" there is a new GTA out over here on this end. Do you guys have it over there, not sure what it was that I spotted somewhere but I thought there was a new GTA either out or coming out over here...

If I were to play World of WarCraft, I'd probably do something which involved swords. In every RPG I play, I rarely use magic.

And yes, GTA IV should be out tomorrow. My cousin works in an electronics store and he said they received there shipment last week, but he couldn't swipe one yet because of the massive fines they receive if it leaks out early.

Most the chars have several diff types of weapons to choose from even though mines is a warlock (and I mainly like to use Staves)I've used one handed swords before but most the other chars use two handed swords some weapons are insane as you move up lvls but I seriously doubt I will ever get to 70 like Gino and my brother I don't have as much time (or patience) it's a miracle I hit 64! and each level gets harder. I think next month they are bumping it up to lvl 80 but I don't know for sures...

And yeah family or no family they don't mess around when things get leaked early and you don't want to cost a family member his/her job. (as tempting as it is to beg them) hehe

Some dev released an Alpha on this app seems alot of ppl are having a hard time running it, but I got lucky and I even figured out a way to make my icons look transparent whereas before on my prior static set up like this I had to paint my icons on my wall and then use blank pngs as launchers. At any rate this will be on my phone for atleast a month. hehe

I think it is though just goes to show how easy it is for these developers to make all kinds of crazy apps for the iphone and nothing has even gotten official yet on this thing. I think it will be very exciting to see this unfold and all the new skinnable apps...

All I'm waiting for is a skinnable calendar that I can attach icons to appts I'm a visual person and can't stand having to read appts I used to like glancing at my PPC Calendar and seeing visual cues of upcoming things.

You should be able to attach photos of the people you're meeting with to the appointment. That would be a really powerful means of communication.

You can already do that feature in the Contacts/Phone program but "not" attach images/icons to appts in the "Calendar" which is what I'm talking about so when you glance at your Calendar you don't have to scroll and read text to see what your appts are but rather just glance at the Calendar and "visually quickly see" the images and you know what's coming up. They'll make one I'm sure of it. They had tons of them for pocket pcs.

Yup this is where we post and nooo 3 is not a crowd at all it just means more chit chat. As for me nothing much just work, kids and play, play = skinning my iphone or WOW (me no party girl) I was on lightbringer before but then I stopped playing for a while due to work and then my brother talked me into playing again so I created another Warlock but on Bloodscalp cuz he made me I liked Lightbringer better but he wanted me on a PVP server so now I not only have to fight off monsters and dragons now I get my a** kicked from behind when I'm not looking from other players!!!

I hardly get to play though cuz I'm pretty wiped out from work and kids but when I do log on it's marathon time usually we (we = my brother who moved to Nevada and my kids) don't get back off until 5:30 in the morning or when we hear birds outside! Last time you posted in our soapbox you mentioned you were into some 3D/gaming? What was that? I can't recall what exactly.

It was prolly WOW that I was talkin bout. Was thinkin of doin an add on or 2 for it, but never get the time.

Kinda had sumwhat of a skinning feel to it really. The scripting isn't too hard either.

I play often, pretty much every day. Couple hrs here, couple there. Kinda fun actually. I'm on a PVP server too, so I know what ya mean about the attacked from behind thing.

Aggamaggan server for all the toons. Low pop server, so groups are hard to get together sumtimes.

Anyways, have a 70 Warrior and a 70 Rogue. They smoke those allies.

My brother called me about 1/2 hour ago screaming at me sis why haven't you logged on for a few days!? I'm like should I just quit my job and play all day and night!? he gets pissed at me and I do want to play but I get so tired and can't get into it when I'm tired.

I've seen the add on's but I don't like them cuz they make your screen get all crowded w/ too much stuff going on and nonsense which quickly becomes too intrusive. Another words you put an add on on and they you're like WOW this is cool! After 1 hour you're like WOW this is rediculous and you begin taking it apart toolbar by toolbar until you just uninstall the thing! Anyways I've got two boys that I'm listening to right now saying "mom what's for dinner!"

So I found the button thingie on the wall and pushed it and everything came back on again "but" my new vacuum is dead! hehe

Stupid rediculous! I wanted to scream! now I've got to lug this big thing back to the store for an exchange.

I remember my mom yelling at me cuz we needed disposible vacuums and blenders and toasters when I was living w/ her! hehe!

The thing was probably malfunctioning already.

You have these things called "brooms". They don't require electricity, are quiet and using them is good for your health too. Not to mention that sweeping is quite zen. As is cleaning the litter box.

So what happens is we go look and search for God in the various Religions to find it/him and because we are not perfect when we search we start to see "our" own flaws and the "Pastors" flaws and the "Churches" flaws and the "Religion's" flaws and then things get messy and nobody sees or finds "God" it/him.

Now you'll think I'm crazy but you already knew that so, so what!

Okay now I feel like having a deep moment (which translates into I'm gonna bore you to death) and I don't feel like doing what I'm suppose to be doing.

Man can only figure out the human body piece by piece I mean the organs like the heart, liver skin all that cool stuff ppl are amazed by what we are made up of "but" they cannot figure out the "Soul"

Man can only figure out and name things like parts of the world figure out what it's made of what's in the ocean and name and title planets and moons but they still can't figure out what's out there or how far it goes or how the world even began or will end.

When our "spirit" leaves our body then the body is nothing and it dies.

And the world is a living mass (just the same) kept alive by "spirit" not just all the things it's made up of cuz when the spirit leaves the mass will die.

So God is a spirit.

Gods are the personification of events and phenomena that at some point in time puzzled societies. Especially in older religions like Shinto, these gods or spirits are everywhere.

People fear that which they do not understand, so if they can personify it, they can at least hope to communicate with it. It is the easy way out: I don't know what's going on, it must be the gods' doing.

Zen is a form of Buddhism and Buddhism in its pure, original form is derived from Hinduism. In Hinduism all living things strive to, simply put, become one with the universe (Brahman). In order to do so, one must live a righteous life and depending on how you lived you will reincarnate as a being closer to or further away from unity. Actions in a previous life will shape the path your next life will follow (the concept of karma). Once you reach unity, you will stop reincarnating.

Now, this cycle of life and death takes a long time and Buddha came up with a way to take a shortcut and reach this highest state of existence (Nirvana). In short he teaches that:

1) All (physical) life is suffering.

2) The suffering stems from clinging to the material.

3) In order to stop the suffering (and the continuous reincarnations) one has to let go of ones material cravings.

4) The way to do this is to follow the Eightfold Path (which boils down to "do the right thing").

The core of Buddhism is to "let go".

Now Zen is a form of Buddhism where enlightenment is sought through introspection and meditation. Zen likes to throw with riddles like "what is the sound of one hand clapping?" or "if a tree falls in the forest but there is no-one there to witness this, does it make a sound?". Not-being or non-thinking is a core concept of Zen and a form of this "letting go". Hence the monotonous task of cleaning the litter box is quite Zen, because it requires zero thought effort.

I "think" the thing about teachers is you get the ones that simply want to earn their paycheck so they only give you questions that they already know you'll have the answers to and then there's the teachers that go beyond earning they paychecks and want to know how well "you" are really paying attention to what you are reading so they go beyond Q & A and make things interesting and test beyond common sense...

Argh! Dutchy do not say the word "mangled" to someone who works for a Trauma Center and then dissapear on me, what happened? Are you okay? I don't really care if you have to type w/ your nose, are you okay?

My proprioception (look it up) is a bit off, meaning that I am a bit wider and taller than I percieve. While swinging with my arm, I hit the handle of the balcony door. The handle is made of solid steel, while my hands are just flesh and bones. The area between my thumb and index finger is pretty bruised, perhaps the bone there is broken (but I doubt that).

The consequence of it all is that it's pretty hard to use my thumb and index finger on my (dominant) right hand. Had it taped up for two days, but that meant I really couldn't use it. So the tape is gone and the hurting is back.

But such is life. Work is going to be interesting. A lot of typing with left.

Get a quick x-ray silly to be sure if in a few days it still hurts cuz hand injuries are "extremely sneaky" prob have a Hairline Fx.

Sorry for jumping the gun I don't like certain words and "mangled" is one of them. I see worse things working at the Trauma Center than most ppl get to see in the worsest horror movie unfortunetly.

Actually dutchy remember how afraid most of them were to list their tunes on the internet via iTunes now alot of artist are using iTunes and gaining even more money using the internet to their advantage. I think Coldplay just released a new CD on iTunes. I grabbed a sample but it was no good and I'm trying not to make them richer while I just get poorer so no more CD buying for me. (I've got boxes and boxes and when I count what that cost me I could have bought my house!!!)

Every single store that I used to run into to go buy my material CD have "all" shut down cuz now all the artist have pretty much turned iTunes. pretty unreal...

iTunes, the program, is a particularly shitty piece of bloatware with just one redeeming feature: the ability to view and play other people's (on the network) playlist.

iTunes, the store, is something I'll never use. I want my music in a material form, or in other words, on CD. In that sense, it is perhaps fortunate that I listen to obscure stuff that does still gets released mainly on CDs.

Mr. Dark and Dramatic as usual, I have to agree w/ you but my iPhone forces me to use it. I think things will change as you and I know it soon CD's will be a thing of the past and you may still get your music by snail mail but in the format of a small memory stick. hehe
